Poseidon could potentially live with another cat that is used to cats. Unfortunately, he strictly could not live with children.

About me

Poseidon came to us originally via an inspector from a multi cat household. He was recently rehomed but came back to us as the home wasn’t the right fit. Due to his difficult start in life Poseidon had little trust in humans, which led to him having a stressful start in the cattery. Over time, with baby steps (and lots of treats!), his confidence in humans has increased and he no longer hides away from us.

Poseidon is a very handsome cat so we understand why people may be swayed by his lovely face, but despite his looks, he isn’t much of a ‘people’ cat. When it comes to fuss he enjoys strokes from a select few, but this has taken some time. He needs to be the one to initiate contact, especially once he gets in a home environment. He is the type of cat that will need his own spaces and to be left alone as needed. When it comes to being picked up his trust can dissipate and he can become unhandleable and incredibly stressed – his future owners will need to be aware of this and prepared to find solutions where needed (with his welfare as the priority).

Due to the above reasons, Poseidon will need a strictly adult only home. His owner will need to be experienced and calm, and be able to offer him a quiet environment to flourish in. He will need a garden to spend time in, plus a cat flap to be able to access the outdoors on his own terms. Given his behaviour at the cattery we believe he could possibly live with another cat who is used to living with other cats. We think he would benefit from a single owner home – this is not a requirement, but he will need a home with fewer people around.
