About me
Meet the lovely Ashley! Ashley came to us from a multi-bird household back in October, on the 15/10/24. He is a full of life, charismatic parrot with a lot of love to give. Although he hasn’t been with us long, he has settled in remarkably well. He lives for human interaction – he especially loves it when we make fools of ourselves by making noises and dancing around the room for his entertainment! He enjoys regularly coming out of his cage and being hand-fed treats like almonds. He has made a few attempts to sit on our arms, although he is still building his confidence. Occasionally he tries to fly, but he isn’t a strong flyer as he is missing some feathers.
Since he enjoys company, we are looking for a home where Ashley can have plenty of human interaction. He will preferably have someone around most of the day, with plenty of opportunities to come out of his cage. His cage will need to be large enough for him to move around and spread his wings as a minimum. He may benefit from having his own room, or alternatively as he is very social he may enjoy having his cage in a busy area of the house where he gets the maximum amount of interaction. Being an African Grey he will need lots of enrichment and stimulation in the form of toys, foraging opportunities, force-free training and entertainment such as television or radio. Ideally there will be another bird already or his new owners will be planning to adopt another bird in the future (with their own separate cages).
Please note that due to his species, Ashley will likely be quite destructive in his new home (parrots enjoy chewing things!). He will also give a few nips as he is still a young parrot. Due to this, we are looking for experienced owners who are well informed on Ashley’s needs. African Greys are a high maintenance species, so Ashley will require a lot of time and resources to keep him well looked after.
This animal will be rehomed in accordance with the Control of Trade in Endangered Species Regulations.
