Bonnie came in on the 16th of April due to her not getting on with the other dog in the home.
Bonnie is a very sweet loving girl that loves to cuddle. She can be a little shy initially but quickly warms up to people and will ask for a fuss. Bonnie knows sit, paw and her name on command, is housetrained, good when groomed and enjoys playing with some toys (ball and soft toy). She loves to sunbathe and also enjoys the paddling pool at the shelter.
Bonnie can be vocal and reactive around other dogs. She will bark and lunge at dogs that pass by and is particularly worried if she sees dogs off lead. She will need to be walked in quiet, rural locations where there are few dogs and must remain on the lead in public areas at all times. She is looking for a home that have previous experience with dog reactivity. Bonnie responds well to training and treats and is learning to ignore and be calm when she sees other dogs on walks, this is an ongoing process that will need to continue in the home.
Bonnie must be the only pet in the home and will need to have a secure garden, ideally without neighbouring dogs. She will require access to quiet, rural walks with no/few dogs.
Her new family will need to be strong to manage her on the lead as she is a chunky girl! (50kg). She could live with older children who are used to large dogs.
