Dave came into our care as his owner could no longer care for the birds he had, so we helped by taking 3 parrots. We believe Dave to be about 10-15 years old. We have completed a DNA test and Dave is confirmed male.

Dave will need an experienced parrot home. Ideally, someone who has had Amazon parrots before as they can have different needs to other parrots. Dave is shy and wary of people, and will not make any attempt to interact with new people. He is hand shy but he is starting to take treats from a treat pot and will take treats from the fingers of the staff he knows. Dave is a companion eater and wants to eat what you have, he will hold a fork or spoon with a bit of food on it, he really likes my breakfast sometimes taking the pot aswell, he won’t give the pot or spoon back till he has finished eating every last scrap on it. He has never bitten, however he does not like any form of handling at all.

Dave would ideally like to live inside with someone who will put in the work to get him to trust you. He chats and makes vocal noises if you sit in with him. He will also make noises and will shout! He can be loud with his vocalisation if he wants your attention, especially if you have food and he wants to try it. He loves chewing stuff, anything from a cardboard box to his wooden perches. So, he will need his own room. He would need a cage for him to feel safe but he would need to be loose in the room so he can fly and perch up high. He loves his rope perches and watching a good movie, so far ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is his favourite. He will try most food but would prefer to see what is in our lunch boxes every day.
